Kids (and those with kids in their lives) know this well: You go to empty a child’s pocket and out tumbles a handful of pocket treasures. There may be a few sticks in the mix but 9 times out of 10, we’re talking about rocks. Smooth rocks! Shiny rocks! Rocks with interesting shapes or colours!
And while I’m no longer a child, there is still something so delightful about going for a walk and encountering the perfect pebble. As a grown-up, we’ve elevated our rock collections by renaming them" gemstones, crystals, or fancy diamond rings; but the sentiment is the same. Here is a pretty thing that was made by nature, over a long period of time, and now I get to call it mine.

I loved the process of making the artwork for this one so much more than I expected! It was fun to play with and layer washi paper in new ways to create a softer edge/ gradient for some of the stones.
